This week Morris the Cat is helping Mashable "Break the Internet" at SXSW

9Lives cat food brand is "rebooting" its iconic 'Morris the Cat' character by transforming him into a “Feline Tech Correspondent” at SXSW's Mashable House.

As a special guest of Mashable, the popular tech and culture website, Morris will report on the latest tech trends, gadgets, cultural moments, and SXSW events from his “charmingly choosy” orange tabby cat perspective.

For Morris -- the world's original cat celebrity who starred in 50+ TV commercials in the 70s and 80s -- the assignment represents a real world activation of his tech-savvy feline persona that was first brought to life in last fall's “Cat's Eye View” wearable tech adventure.

At SXSW, Morris' reporting assignments include:

* “Ask Morris” About Technology: Morris will answer pressing technology-related questions from his fans and will help them troubleshoot common tech issues.

* “Morris’ Future Stars Spotlight”: Morris will interview up-and-coming future stars at SXSW including YouTube and Vine personalities, actors, musical artists, startup founders, and more.

* If Cats Were Tech Entrepreneurs: Morris will offer suggestions for how to modify popular tech gadgets and services to make them more cat friendly (and thus more adorably pawesome).

As a real live cat, Morris is supported at SXSW by agency PR Hacker and its team of on-site and off-site videographers, photographers, writers, and voice-over artists (who supply Morris' voice). This comedy team has already been writing “episodic storytelling” scripts that document Morris' daily adventures on his social media channels.
